Palm Beach has a way of making even a simple afternoon together feel special. For Tony and Marcela’s engagement session, we spent the day walking through some of the island’s most recognizable scenery—Mediterranean-inspired architecture, tropical gardens, quiet streets, and beautiful views of the ocean.

Rather than making the session feel overly posed, I wanted their photographs to feel relaxed and natural while still creating a few timeless portraits along the way.

A Relaxed Engagement Session in Palm Beach

Tony and Marcela kept their look simple and elegant, choosing neutral tones that worked perfectly with the warm architecture and tropical surroundings of Palm Beach.

We started around the historic fountains and gardens, taking our time and letting the session unfold naturally. Some of my favorite photographs came from simply having them walk together, talk, laugh, and enjoy the afternoon.

That is something I always try to bring into an engagement session. Of course, I’ll give direction when it’s needed, but I also want to leave room for the moments that happen in between.

Exploring Palm Beach Together

One of the reasons I love photographing couples in Palm Beach is the amount of variety we can create without traveling very far.

Within a short walk, we moved from manicured gardens and classic Palm Beach architecture to little cafés and shaded streets. Each location gave us a slightly different look while still keeping the entire session cohesive.

And yes—we made sure to show off Marcela’s engagement ring along the way.

From Palm Beach Architecture to the Ocean

We finished the session near the ocean, where Palm Beach’s historic architecture meets the Atlantic.

These ended up being some of my favorite photographs from the afternoon. The stone arches, ocean views, and beautiful South Florida light created a completely different atmosphere from where we started.

More importantly, Tony and Marcela were comfortable enough by this point to simply enjoy themselves. Those interactions—the smiles, the way they look at each other, and the little moments between photographs—are what make an engagement session personal.

More Than Engagement Photos

An engagement session is also a great opportunity for us to spend some time together before the wedding day.

You get comfortable being in front of my camera, I learn how the two of you interact naturally, and by the time the wedding arrives, taking photographs together doesn’t feel like something completely new.

For Tony and Marcela, their Palm Beach engagement session gave us a chance to create something relaxed, romantic, and unmistakably South Florida.

I can’t wait to photograph the next chapter of their story.
